About

IMG_4539 (2)Hi, I’m Lauren. I’m a mom of 2, teacher, strength & conditioning coach, personal trainer, and a lifelong athlete. I’m also a proud Army veteran and military wife. After 9-11, I served 5 years as a Persian Farsi linguist. I loved the Army but with me and the hubbie both in during 2 wars, it was tough on family life so I separated honorably in 2008 and started my career in fitness.

As a former college athlete and gym lover, becoming a fitness professional has been a most rewarding career path! I’ve had the honor of helping clients of all ages, backgrounds, and ability levels improve their lives with better fitness and nutrition habits and knowledge. I’ve worked with everybody from elite athletes to grandparents to new moms and everybody in between.

My fitness pursuits have also opened another rewarding career path for me – teaching! Today I teach high school Health Sciences and I also lecture part-time for the University of Texas – Center for Professional Education’s Personal Trainer Certificate Program.

I have a Master’s degree (MS) in Sports and Health Sciences and my fitness certifications are the NSCA-CSCS and NASM-CPT.

I’m a lifelong athlete with experience playing many different sports including softball in college. I started lifting weights when I was a high school freshman and the gym has been an anchor in my life ever since. Prior to teaching and working in fitness, I studied business and linguistics. I have an MBA-Finance, BS-International Business and French, and AA-Persian Farsi Studies.

I started FitnessPostModern because the fitness world is in transition. Our industry is evolving rapidly and on a massive scale. There are so many great ideas and innovative training techniques coming out every day that are helping elite athletes and regular folks alike make incredible advancements in their athletic pursuits and everyday lives. One of my goals at FPM is to help you live a healthier, happier life by helping you combine the best of the proven, old-school, traditional techniques with the latest industry advancements.

I am available for public speaking engagements or for freelance writing!
